Maigh Cuilinn 4-13
Micheal Breathnach 1-08
The Maigh Cuilinn Minor team embarked on their 2025 league campaign on Monday, St. Patrick’s Day, in what proved to be a historic occasion for several reasons.
Firstly, this game began a new era for the Minor team, under the dedicated guidance of clubman Conor Bohan, alongside Rob Molloy and Aidan Claffey. The management team has been working diligently with the squad in preparation for what promises to be a long and competitive season.

Secondly, this game was also historic as it was the first competitive game for the Minors played under the GAA’s new playing rules.
All involved must be commended for handling this significant change. Referee Frank Kinneen managed the game effectively, and the management team and players deserve great credit for embracing and adapting to the new regulations.
It was clear to all in attendance that the new rules contributed to a most enjoyable and open game of football. The match featured some excellent scores, including a notable two-point score from Mark Gillespie. The game also showcased some excellent goalkeeping with a penalty save by Gavin McGreal.
The occasion also highlighted the significant investment in facilities at our pitches, with the grounds looking resplendent.
We extend our best wishes to our Minor team as they have gotten off to a good start to the league. We look forward to supporting them and watching them play what promises to be great football this year.
