A virtuoso performance by Dessie Conneely dragged Moycullen over the line in this senior football championship Group 1 contest at Pearse Stadium on Saturday and, in the process, maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign as they made it three wins from three.

Four points down at the break, Don Connellan’s charges turned matters around in the second half as Conneely fired over six points while a Neil Walsh goal on 45 minutes gave them the lead for the first time. With the sides cancelling out one another thereafter, it meant Moycullen deservedly hung on for a two point victory and a position at the top of the group with Tuam Stars.

Now Corofin will wonder where it all went wrong after a solid opening half. Their scores appeared to come easier as the teamwork and movement cultivated over the years continued to flow. A Dylan Brady goal on 29 minutes to put them five point clear looked decisive – although they had goalkeeper Bernard Power to thank for a smart penalty save just before the half time whistle.
