2022 was a special year for Cumann Peile Mhaigh Cuilinn’s Seán Kelly.
Early in the year, Kelly enjoyed a successful Sigerson Cup campaign with NUI Galway. Maurice Sheridan’s side defeated UL in the 2022 Sigerson Cup final back in February, 0-12 to 1-06. This was the Galway side’s first Sigerson Cup success since 2003, ending their 19 year wait.
At inter-county level, his first year as captain of the Galway senior footballers, Kelly lead the Tribesmen to the 2022 Connacht SFC title, defeating Roscommon in the final by 2-19 to 2-16. Seán captained Galway to their first All-Ireland SFC final in 21 years. Unfortunately, Kerry prevailed in the decider, 0-20 to 0-16.
