Maigh Cuilinn 0-13
Monivea 1-6
This great bunch of lads have more silverware after they won the Shield Final this morning, beating Monivea. In a game in which the first half was played in a downpour and a gale blowing, Maigh Cuilinn lost the toss, so they had a wind advantage. They capitalised on it with 5 points from Evan Kenny (1 from play),2 each from Diarmuid Mulkerrins and Joe Lydon, and 1 each from Neil Mulcahy and Sean Croke to give us an 0-11 point to 0-3 lead at halftime.
By the start of the second half, the rain had stopped, and the wind had died down. Andrew Power made a brilliant save to deny Monivea a goal.
Maigh Cuilinn added 2 more points from Croke, and Monivea got the only goal of the game in injury time, leaving the final score Maigh Cuilinn 0-13 Monivea 1-6.
Well done to our Management team of Padraic O Neachtain, Greg Cleary, Fergus Gillespie, Brendan McNeela & David Cox for all their time given to those lads all year. I think they have answered all questions asked of them all year.
Thanks to Monivea for their appreciation shown to us on our way into the dressing rooms today and to referee Maura Conneely. We still have Comortas to go with those lads yet ..MAIGH CUILINN ABÚ
