The Christmas spirit was alive and well in Moycullen as a large crowd of brave souls took to the icy waters of Trá Mór, An Spidéal on Christmas Day for the annual David Cox Memorial Christmas Day Swim. This heartwarming event, held in memory of the late David Cox, a beloved member of the Maigh Cuilinn GAA club, saw swimmers of all ages and abilities come together to support a fantastic cause.
Among the participants were several familiar faces from Maigh Cuilinn GAA, including Galway senior football captain Seán Kelly, who also made headlines this year for leading Galway to a third consecutive Connacht title.
The swim raises vital funds for Crinniú, a local charity dedicated to supporting families in need within the Moycullen community. This incredible organization, made up entirely of volunteers, has been making a difference in the lives of local people for over 15 years.
The atmosphere on Christmas morning was one of both excitement and camaraderie. Participants donned their festive attire, with Santa hats and colourful swimsuits adding a touch of holiday cheer to the chilly occasion. The swimmers braved the cold Atlantic waters with smiles on their faces, embodying the true spirit of community and generosity.
Maigh Cuilinn GAA is incredibly proud of all those who participated in the swim and those who generously donated to Crinniú. Your support makes a real difference in the lives of those in need.
